Yankee Stadium Word Art

It was only a matter of time...I've been honing the sports word art craft for years by drawing iconic athletes, and I finally felt ready to recreate a place that has bred countless icons, the home to arguably the greatest franchise in the history of sports: Yankee Stadium. I sketched an image of the stadium post-1946 (when lights were installed) and filled it in by handwriting the names of every single Yankee to play in the old Yankee Stadium. I'm still blown away by some of the superteams I got to write down – Ruth/Gehrig in the 20 & 30s, Mantle/Maris/Berra in the 50s & 60s, and the Core Four of Jeter/Posada/Rivera/Pettitte in the 90s & 2000s. Filling in the shading on the signature façade really brought this piece to life, and just to add a little more New York nostalgia into it – I made sure there were a few fire escapes on the background buildings. Yankee fans around the world, I present to you my latest word art: The House the Ruth Built!

***I actually went in and added the 2009 Yankees so the piece could include all 27 World Series Championship teams - bringing the total to 1465 names!
