The best part about watching Jose Altuve win the 2017 AL MVP and World Series...is that he had so much fun doing it. It's almost as if he didn't sit down for a single moment in the entire playoff series, and his unparalleled enthusiasm is the reason why I chose him to be the face of the Astros 2017 World Series word art. For this piece, I wanted to capture his most exuberant moment: running towards the mound after the final out. I took a few different angles and recreated the scene by handwriting the date, score and opponent of every game from the Astros 2017 season.
***Let's also not forget about the fact that just 10 years ago, he was sent home from an Astros tryout being too short - it reminded me of one of my favorite Phillies growing up: Lenny Dykstra.
